Often times our prayers are centered around ourselves. We present a wish list to God, expressing our heart’s desire. Hoping He’ll look down on us and approve of our wish list and grant our wants, just like Santa.
But God is no Santa. With all the wisdom He has, it is only He who knows what is best for us. And so I am learning to pray that prayer. “Lord, only You know what is best for me.”
But when we really don’t get what we desired, there is that constant battle with God in our hearts. Because we think we know what’s best for ourselves. Because we want to take charge of the direction in our lives. Tough but I am learning.
The Lord’s ways are mysterious and higher than what our minds can perceive. We just have to learn to depend on Him and hold on tight to His leading.
Deuteronomy 31:8 “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”
