The Voice that’s singing over you.

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this boat I’m in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
To the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He’s holding out his hand

But the waves are calling out my name and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I’ve tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. ‘Boy, you’ll never win!’
“You’ll never win”

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says “This is for My glory
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a Sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they’d have had the strength to stand

But the giant’s calling out my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I’ve tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again “boy, you’ll never win!
“You’ll never win”

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don’t seem so high
From on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

  1. One of my favorite songs in this album from one of my favorite bands – so many of their songs have brought me down in tears.

Are you only discovering them now? If yes, it’s never too late to uncover this gem of truth and inspiration! =)

    • Do you have their album? Yeah only started discovering them. Their songs are so real and it really speaks volumes.

      • Timothy Ho Sze Ye Says:

Yeah, i have both their albums: Lifesong (their follow-up to their hugely successful debut album) – which they won a Grammy award for their work on the album, followed by their debut (self-titled) album some time later. So, yeah… three more albums to go! Yippee! =D

What i really love about them is that they began as a student worship band (like me! =P), and Mark Hall – the lead vocalist (also songwriter) and founder of the band is mainly a youth pastor. In fact, four members of the band are ministers themselves where they play during the Contemporary Worship service on Sunday mornings.

They do the band part-time around their full-time work of mentoring teenagers at the church. They often tour from Thursday- Saturday so that they can be home for church on Sunday morning and Wednesday night. And i love how Hall describes their music as a “ministry of discipleship”.

And the best part was that their debut album was co-produced by my all time favorite Christian singer, songwriter, (recording) artiste – Steven Curtis Chapman! =D How did you stumble upon this gem anyways? Yup, which is why i am normally reduced to tears and brought down to my knees every time i’m confronted with the truth through their ‘ministry of discipleship’.

        Make me a disciple, O Lord…

      • Maybe we can write songs and produce an album sometime 😉 Since you were in a band before. I stumbled across this video because when I clicked on youtube, it was one of the recommended videos lol.

    Yeah, i would really love that – Insyha-Allah! =D Ah, i see… Tsk! Tsk! You’re a Youtube addict lah, i tell ya. : P
