Reading law in Reading.

This is for you, June.

Well, it’s been ages since I’ve done some proper blogging. Been so caught up settling in uni. Anyways, I’ve promised my best friend June that I’ll put up pictures of my room here in Reading. I didn’t want to post them on Facebook for the world to see. So here they are!

This is where I study and do most of my unproductive work. It’s pretty neat because the window is just right there and the sun shines in (when we’re lucky to get the sun, that is!).  I’m quite happy with the view I got too. I get to stare at the beauty of Reading when I wake up. And it’s quite pretty now in autumn. It tends to get cold at night though because the cold seeps in through the window.

Cosy ain’t it? Yup, I get a nice wardrobe next to my study table. Everything is pretty new because my batch are the second users of it. This hall was built two years ago.

More storage next to my bed. My mom says it’s like my own mini market.

And we have a huge pin board in our rooms!

Toilet on the left. Laundry bag on the bottom right. Shoes just right by my door. 😉

My very own toilet.

Hot showers! How lovely art thou. And isn’t it lovely how torquise blends with white! My two favorite colours.

If you know me well, you’d know I have an obsession over flowers.  So I got a pot of  white roses to sit beautifully on my window sill.

The view from my window.

Also the view from my window, towards the left side. There you can see the other blocks of my accommodation.

The corridor of my flat. It gives us that feeling like you’re walking into a hotel. We even use swipe cards to unlock and lock doors!

The door straight ahead at the far end is the door to the kitchen.

The shared kitchen! Not too bad.

Ironing board.

The dining table!

As you would have noticed Mackinder Halls are themed orange.

So there you have it! My humble accommodation here in Reading. My home for the coming 9 months.

Melbourne: Day 1

To live life without any boundaries would mean to move ahead to do what I love, without waiting for the people around me.

So, few months back I decided to just go ahead with booking a flight to the land of Australia. Weighing the cost (all from my own savings), the fact that I would be travelling alone for the first time without the parents, I still thought, why not? After all, how many more holidays do I get for a window to travel? Soon, in two years time, I see myself slaving away at the lonely corner of a law firm.

Life is short. And this is how I live life  as though everyday would be my last. I flew to Melbourne.

I booked a ticket to Melbourne with Angelina. She and I planned this few months back because she wanted to visit her friends in Melbourne before they graduated. I too promised Siew Fong I’d visit her in Sydney. But because Air Asia only flew to Melbourne (and I had to board another plane subsequently if I wanted to fly to Sydney) I decided to drop by Melbourne for a couple of days before flying off to Sydney.

Angel and I at LCCT.

Pretty decent food served on the plane.

After a few rounds of Monopoly Deal, chatting and stuffing our ears with ear mufflers because of the crying baby adjacent to our seats, the 8 hour flight was over.

A glimpse of the Australian sunrise.

After collecting our baggage and going through the custom inspections, I was warmly welcomed to Melbourne by my best friend, Carissa and boyfriend, Ming Zen. We waited until Angel boarded her coach to Swanston Street and left the airport to Ming’s house in Point Cook.

Ming’s beautiful home.

After placing my luggage down, I enthusiastically agreed to head to the city!

My first photo of Melbourne city.

My first tram ride.

The Public Purse by Simon Perry

Lunch at Cafe Andiamo.

Risotto and spinach cooked in creamy white wine sauce.

Kanchiny, Cherry, Jocelyn, Carissa

Raspberry and White Choc, Cherry Choc and Mint frosted cuppy cakes! One of the best cupcakes I’ve ever tasted.

Federation Square, where Bersih 2.0 was held in Melbourne.

Just like the ground, the square blocks are covered in real grass too!

The art museum.

And we came across this street with graffiti filled walls.

Melbourne city at night!

Lindt chocolate cafe for macaroons.

And we went to Hairy Little Sista for some champagne.

Had champagne with the macaroons.

Then had a hearty dinner with the merry family!

More to come!

Where you go, I’ll go
Where you stay, I’ll stay
When you move, I’ll move
I will follow…

All your ways are good
All your ways are sure
I will trust in you alone
Higher than my side
High above my life
I will trust in you alone

Where you go, I’ll go
Where you stay, I’ll stay
When you move, I’ll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I’ll love
How you serve I’ll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you
I will follow you

Light unto the world
Light unto my life
I will live for you alone
You’re the one I seek
Knowing I will find
All I need in you alone, in you alone

In you there’s life everlasting
In you there’s freedom for my soul
In you there joy, unending joy
and I will follow

I just had to steal this song from my best friend’s blog. Love it.

I really don’t know what I want for Christmas.

That could only mean two things:

1. I already have everything.

2. I’m satisfied with what I have.

Well, I certainly do not have everything in life. But I have everything I need in life.

I have a beautiful comfortable home, parents who are proud of me, amazing friends I laugh and cry with, a car to drive around, an opportunity to study what I’ve always wanted, enough money to eat when I’m hungry, watch movies, and even to give away, a phone to use, piano lessons to improve, incredible lecturers, a church I can grow in and serve, opportunities to travel with my family, an internet to go on the social networks and to do my work, a laptop to work with, nice clothes to go out with.

Yes I often think about the coveted iPhone4, Blackberry and iPad and how I’d be able to tweet and read tweets more conveniently. But why should I even be asking for such things? I already have everything I need. And I’m happy because I choose to not let these material things inhibit my definition of happiness.

I’m so very happy and satisfied with what I have. And I say that with all of my heart.

My life

is complete.

Blessed Christmas. May you have a very fulfilling one.

Accomplishing new things.

I’m on my summer break and there’s 16 days thats left of it. I want to do as many things I can possibly do before I drown in Year Two of law school.

I’m currently working (a job I absolutely love) and fortunately, I do have time to make the most of the remaining time I have. Working hours are only 1-7pm and only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I work on Thursday nights 8-10pm. Sometimes I’d get the privilege of following my boss to meetings out of the office hours. But other than that I’d be able to do the things I want to do.

Often these things are often relating to my growth in life. I want to learn as much I can when I get the opportunity to, you see.

This summer break, I have

1. Strengthened my walk with God by praying and reading the bible every morning I wake up and before I sleep.
2. I am in the process of writing for Loyar Burok.
3. I wrote a song for my best friend. I’m just left with putting a melody and tune to it.
4. Learn to sight read music notes a little better.
5. I have become more politically aware by reading and discussing issues.

And as I am doing all these and juggling between time for work and time for friends, I’m learning how to manage my time better.

Things are falling into place because I’ve chose to put Him first. And I’m very glad I did. After all, at the very end of the day, thats the one thing that will count above everything else. Above every accomplishment.

Wherever you fly, this isn’t goodbye.

My best friend has boarded the plane to the United States to pursue her dreams. And as much as I will miss her terribly, I’m so happy and proud of her, that she’s finally living her dreams.

Girl you know you can do anything you set your heart and mind to. And you know I’ll always be there. Always.

May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when it’s time to go home
May you always have plenty
Your glass never empty
Know in your belly
You’re never alone

May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
With every year passing
They mean more than gold
May you win but stay humble
Smile more than grumble
And know when you stumble
You’re never alone

Never alone
Never alone
I’ll be in every beat of your heart
When you face the unknown
Wherever you fly
This isn’t goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you
Baby you’re never alone

Well, I have to be honest
As much as I want it
I’m not gonna promise the cold winds won’t blow
So when hard times have found you
And your fear surround you
Wrap my love around you
You’re never alone

Till I see you again. X
